The importance of blog commenting

Blog CommentingI follow a lot of blogs. Some of them have to do with blogging or Internet marketing, others have to do with other topics such as mothering and book reviews. I try to leave comments often because I think blog commenting is important. I don’t always but I know I should.

Blog comment is good for the blogger and the reader. It is nice to write a blog post and get comments. Every blogger loves that. It is nice to hear from people and get to know them better. It also helps the blogger see who their audience is and where they might blog at.

As a blogger, it is important to leave blog comments to let other bloggers know they have readers and they are a great way to drive traffic back to your own site. Now you shouldn’t just comment for traffic. You should always leave a good comment based on the blog post. I see a lot of spam comments and I wish those people would take the time to read posts first. They would be able to drive traffic to their own site by doing that. If a blog comment looks like spam, it probably won’t get an approved and no one will see it.

Blog commenting is a great way to drive traffic to your site and it can be a lot of fun. Getting to know other bloggers is such a great idea! Even if you blog about different topics, you can still learn and help each other.

You can also get backlinks from blog commenting. If a blog has Comment Luv installed, which mine does, you should receive a Dofollow backlink when you comment. This is a reason why those of us using it might be more strict about who can leave a comment. You can easily do a search on Google for CommentLuv blogs in your niche. I really like this list of CommentLuv blogs. Make sure you know what type of comment the blogger is looking for to get approved. Some bloggers have very specific rules about it. You can read mine here.

Whenever I have time to work and feeling a little lost at what to do, I go read and comment on blogs. This puts me in the right mood for blogging and I often get inspired by what I read.

How many blogs do you follow? Do you usually comment or are you more of just a reader?

  2. I think I was mostly a reader of quite a few blogs but after starting my blog and seeing firsthand the thrill that comes from getting comments on a post, I now make an effort to leave a comment if feel like I can contribute.

  3. I am not good at commenting regularly unless the blog topic is something I feel strongly about. If I feel like I’m truly making a contribution then I do it. :)

  5. I agree commenting on blogs is so important. I get much of my traffic from sites I am a regular commenter and what is cool is that people get to know you and your face or logo. I’ve been to forums and people already know me from a blog we both frequent. It’s true, blogs, their writers and commenters are a community. Great bloggers and commenters make up this awesome system.

  6. Thanks for this. I love to comment but I often feel as if the blog writer doesn’t care or might be bothered by comments that aren’t super relative or enlightening or from someone they don’t know. However, now that I am trying to blog about my current travels in South America, I constantly check to see if I have comments! haha, Alas, I think I have a heck of a lot more writing to do before I start seeing comments. I have only posted 8 times, LOL, and haven’t shared the link with anyone yet because I feel I haven’t put up enough content. Maybe I should just spread the word already if I ever expect any comments.
But it is good to hear from others that they love to get comments, too.

  9. Hello,
I am somewhat new to blogging. My blog is only about a month old. Usually I am more of a reader, but now I see the importance of commenting. I just installed Comment Luv on my blog after finding it on Pinterest. I was curious as to how you felt about it. Do you find it a positive thing for your blog, or did you find it to increase more spam comments? Just curious because I’ve been getting increased spam comments that I have needed to delete, and was wondering if maybe that was why???

I really enjoyed your blog. Blogging is definitely a full time job. And, I am new and finding out so much from the comments that other bloggers leave. We all can learn from each other.

Great post. I’ve recently started blogging. I sometimes comment, but not always. And I never get comments on my blog… I’m not sure why. You should do a post on how to get comments on your blog. I’d love to read that! Thanks!
