It’s the year 2013 and more and more people are working from home. They want the freedom to be at home with their kids or just to stay away from the office. They want a career and a good job but want to be able to make their own hours. I am one of these people. I knew from an early age I wanted to stay home with my children. I have been able to do that for the past eight years but have also usually earned some type of income at home. I would like to change that to being able to earn a full-time income online.
What I love about working from home is that I am in my own space. I decide where I want to work and when I want to work. I can work around my kids and their schedules. If I have somewhere I need to go, I can go. I don’t have a boss hovering over me. I don’t have to deal with annoying coworkers. I don’t have to worry about leaving work to go pick up a child. Since one of my children has Asperger’s, working outside the house would be very difficult for him. I like that I am free to be there for what he needs even during the school day.
I am happy to say that I hit a point of no return so to speak. If you add up about what I could make at a job outside the house, took away childcare expenses, extra gas, extra eating out and other expenses and compare it to what I make from home, it is about even. And that is assuming I could get a good paying job in the area.
Now of course I could get a job outside the house AND work online but then I know I would have zero time for my kids and family. I would have to work 24/7 just to make it work and I don’t want that kind of life.
Working from home does have its challenges. For one thing you have to be able to figure out good ways to make money from home and that isn’t always easy. You have to find something you can do that works well. You also have to be motivated to work. You have to balance work with your kids, spouse and anything else you have to do each day. You also have to be able to take your work seriously, even if you don’t have a boss or even a regular paycheck.
I would also love to get to a point where we could travel a bit. I could take my work with me. I know this is far in the future but it is one of my goals. I also would like us to be able to move back to the West Coast where we are from. Right now we are in the South and it is fine but we do miss being so close to the ocean and family. It would be nice to be able to make a decision on where to live based on our family’s needs verses were the job is.
Why do you like working from home?

I too love the freedom that comes from working at home. I’m a young adult, but like you I knew early on that I didn’t want to be in an office. I want to have a job that allows me to just pick up and go anywhere that I please.

I love working from home because of the flexibility and the ability to stay home with my children instead of putting them in daycare. Having done the working mom and WAHM thing, I can tell you that being a WAHM is WAAAAAAY harder! I’m trying to get the same amount of work done that I did when I worked outside the home, but while simultaneously taking care of 3 children. Oh, and the house gets a lot messier since they’re home all day to mess it up!

There are a lot of advantages if we can work at home. We can manage our time in accordance with our needs. We still can do the housework, keep the children, serve our family and a lot more. It depends on us how we will manage our time wisely. Of course we want to get both take control of housework and at the same time get profit from the work we do at home (blogging, affiliate, internet marketer, etc.). Thank you for sharing very good posting.

There’s nothing I love more in life than being a dad! I’m so tired of only seeing my kids for a few hours in the evening and on weekends because of work. I currently work full-time as a drug and alcohol counselor and I’m about eight months away from completing my masters. So between work and school, there’s not much time left in the day. I believe working from home will give me the freedom I want to enjoy my kids and have a flexible schedule. I own a small business and I’m hoping to turn it into a full-time time gig once I finish school.
